About Me

Welcome to my digital command center. I'm Alex Cano — a bilingual data analyst, cyber specialist, and systems engineer with a passion for building intelligent tools and repairing what others replace.

I'm a Communications Specialist and Sergeant (SGT) in the Army National Guard, where I lead visual information efforts, support strategic messaging, and operate at the intersection of media and mission. My military background instilled discipline, adaptability, and a solutions-first mindset — all of which I bring to every technical challenge.

I earned my B.S. in Cybersecurity from Southern New Hampshire University and am currently pursuing an M.S. in Business Analytics & Artificial Intelligence at Johns Hopkins University, alongside an M.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Virginia. My work bridges data, systems, and storytelling.

I build data dashboards for the U.S. Department of State, design hardware prototypes in Blender, mod consoles, and engineer local AI systems like Jarvis+ — my custom voice assistant featuring speech, memory, and smart home integration, built entirely offline for privacy and control. If it plugs in or runs code, I’m probably tweaking it, fixing it, or making it smarter.

🧠 AI & Voice Assistants

• Jarvis+ – Custom offline voice assistant powered by LLaMA 3 and Ollama, integrated with Home Assistant and built with custom RAG scripts for memory retention
• BlueJay Coach – Graduate GenAI project simulating job interviews using real-time speech-to-text, Python audio processing, and offline LLM inference
• Voice Cloning – Created a custom Jarvis-like voice using Piper Studio for local TTS, integrated with a modular AI assistant framework
• AI Infrastructure Development – Engineered offline AI pipelines with Whisper STT, Python orchestration, vector search, and modular command chaining
• Privacy-First AI Systems – Built cloud-free, on-device AI architecture emphasizing data security and offline inference using LLaMA 3, Whisper, and FAISS
• Hugging Face Prototyping – Used Hugging Face Transformers and datasets to test early RAG workflows and prompt chaining before migrating to a fully local LLM setup

🔧 Hardware, Modding & 3D Design

• Custom Hardware Prototyping – Designed and 3D printed joystick caps, risers, and Raspberry Pi housings using Blender and Bambu Lab P1S
• Console Repair & Modding – Repaired HDMI ports on Xbox/PS4, installed IPS displays, RGB PCBs, and upgraded controllers with custom LEDs
